Caring for Families
Proven Solutions to End Children &
Family Homelessness
Youth Haven’s Caring for Families program is a comprehensive home and community-based support program for families experiencing a temporary financial hardship and who find themselves homeless or seriously at-risk of becoming homeless.
Families work in partnership with our professional family support specialists to successfully navigate through the host of problems in which they are facing in an effort to achieve self sufficiency and permanent stable housing.
Group and individual crisis counseling and ongoing mental health therapy is also provided through our Children & Family Counseling Center to aid in alleviating the emotional impact that homeless families and children face due to their experiences.
Services provided include:
• Emergency financial assistance to help with rent and utilities
• Budgeting and financial training
• Housing stabilization services
• Non-legal Landlord / tenant mediation
• Mental health assessments and counseling
• Referral services
• Parenting education
• Supplemental food services and necessary family items
Caring for Families is part of a community-wide effort, led locally by the Hunger and Homeless Coalition, in providing families with the skills, guidance, and support they need in order to overcome hurdles and protect their children from experiencing even a short bout of homelessness.
This program is funded in part through Collier County’s Department of Housing and Human Services as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009. All services are offered in English, Spanish and Creole and are free, personal, and confidential.
