The Youth Haven Foundation, Inc.
“Leave a Legacy for the Kids”
The Youth Haven Foundation was founded to assist in securing Youth Haven’s
ability to continue to provide its services long term to at-risk children
and fragile families. Please consider making a planned gift to the Youth
Haven Foundation. By doing so, you are ensuring the uninterrupted continuation
of vital programs for suffering children and their families in our neighborhoods.
Why Give To The Youth Haven Foundation?
- Flexibility – The Foundation offers highly
individualized giving programs. Representatives from the Foundation
will work with you and your attorney and financial advisors in developing
the best planned gift for you.
- Longevity – The Foundation has been here
for over 13 years and will be here in the future. Youth Haven has been
providing continuous services since 1972.
Accountability – The Foundation makes a full
accounting on a regular basis through reports certified by our independent
auditors
- Satisfaction & Accessibility – Donors
will receive periodic updates on what is happening at Youth Haven and
are able to meet directly with the members of the Board of Youth Haven
and the Foundation to answer any questions that they may have.
What are Planned Gifts?
A planned gift may be made through a will, retirement plan, real estate,
bargain sale, life insurance policy or other capital asset. Deferred gift
vehicles are bequests, gift plans that generate income during one’s
lifetime, trusts that pay income to a charity with the remainder passing
to heirs, or contract designations and remainder interests in personal
residence. To learn more about planned giving options, please contact
Ron McSwiney, Youth Haven’s Director of Development at ron.mcswiney@youthhaven.net
for our e-guide “Leaving a Legacy for the Kids.”
Creation of Endowment Funds Using Planned Gifts
There are many types of endowment funds to meet your charitable objectives.
Endowment funds are established by a donor agreement, which names the
account, describes the planned gift, specifies that a certain percentage
of the planned gift must be and is irrevocable and states how the income
is to be spent. The following is a sample list of Endowment Funds.
- Named Endowment Funds – created in recognition
of the donor(s) or to honor or commemorate an individual.
- Named Endowment in support of designated management
positions, such as The Robert Lee Telford Memorial Chair for the Executive
Director of Youth Haven
- Named Endowment supporting designated programs,
such as Emergency Shelter, Natural Helper, Child Care Center, or DARE
To Be You
- Named General Endowment for unrestricted endowment
