Board of Trustees

 
Youth Haven is governed by an active and committed Board of Trustees comprised of local professionals and community activists.  These generous men and women volunteer their time and talents to advocate for Youth Haven and assist us in acquiring support necessary for to meet our mission of providing a safe, healing haven for traumatized children. 


Real estate attorney, Jay F. Cook, Appointed President of our 2011-2012 Board of Trustees 

 
Jay graduated with a B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University and magna cum laude from Indiana University School of Law with his J.D. Degree. He is a former Board member of People Serving People, an emergency housing and community service organization for homeless families, and CornerHouse Interagency Child Abuse and Evaluation Center both in Minneapolis.

Youth Haven Chief Executive Officer Announces His Retirement
 
Ron McSwiney, CEO for the past five years, has announced his decision to retire in December 2011.  During his tenure, Youth Haven expanded its scope of services and set a standard of excellence in child emergency sheltering, psychological counseling, mentoring and family support services. 
 
"I have said many times that I am the luckiest guy in the world to have had the opportunity to work with Youth Haven and the dedicated, passionate team of child advocates that we have put together.  As I leave, I do so with continued support for Youth Haven's mission and the confidence and knowledge that the team will serve our community well as we continue to move forward to meet the needs of the many children and families who will require Youth Haven's care now and in the future."
