Strengthening Families
A Group Parenting & Family Skills Building Program
Strengthening Families is a parenting and family enrichment program designed to guide and support parents so that they have the confidence and resources needed in order to achieve success in their role as parents and build positive family relationships.
This family support program brings parents together for interactive group sessions where they are encouraged to share thoughts and successes, gain emotional and social support from other parents, and hear valuable ideas that will help them deal effectively with today’s parenting challenges.
Parents will learn empowering ways in which to:
• Increase confidence in their parenting abilities
• Strengthen self-esteem and personal feelings of self-worth
• Gain knowledge of child development and milestones
• Overcome child behavior & discipline challenges
• Model empathy & create a nurturing home environment
• Effectively manage stress and anxiety
• Promote substance abuse prevention
• Improve parent / child relations
Strengthening Families is held over a period of five weeks, with sessions being presented one evening a week for 90 minutes. Classes are provided in both English and Spanish with a one- time $40 registration fee per participant.
