Family Support Services

 

Youth Haven is the sole provider of a number of in-home and community based prevention and crisis intervention programs for families.  These programs are for those in the community who are in need of supportive services to enhance their parenting skills, overcome a temporary financial hardship, strengthen family relationships, and build a stronger community support system in an effort to minimize the likelihood of homelessness, substance abuse, and decrease parenting practices and behaviors associated with child abuse and neglect. 

Youth Haven's Family Support Programs include:

  • Natural Helper - a child abuse prevention program providing family-specific in-home parenting education, crisis intervention, mentorship, support and a variety of specialized services inlcuding substance abuse education, social and emotional guidance and encouragement to at-risk families in the community
  • Strenghtening Families - tailored for parents referred by the State or other social service providers, Strengthening Families is presented in group format with the central focus being instruction on the development and strengthening of effective parenting strategies
  • Caring for Families - a comprehensive abuse prevention, support, and crisis intervention program targeting homeless families or those significantly at-risk of losing houseing due to a temporary financial hardship

All of Youth Haven's community outreach programs are provided in English, Spanish and Creole by a team of highly caring and compassionate social work professionals.  Psychological counseling and behavioral therapy services are also offered to the families through The Children & Family Counseling Center at Youth Haven
