Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteer opportunities at Youth Haven. We welcome your support and are confident that you will find your experience here truly heartwarming and rewarding.

Youth Haven has established a volunteer program for community friends seeking an opportunity to become directly involved in assisting in our various programs and support services both on and off campus. Most of our volunteer positions can be tailored to fit your individual needs and schedules, with both seasonal and year round opportunities. We also welcome church groups, civic organizations or business groups who are interested in supporting the children through specific activities.

Volunteer opportunities are as follows:
 
• General clerical assistance, including copying, filing & mailings
• Organizing group activities, special field trips, and parties for the children in our programs
• Serving on a Committee of Youth Haven’s Board of Trustees
• Joining Youth Haven’s Auxiliary and assisting with special event planning and fundraising endeavors
• Providing friendship and support to the children, birth through age 14, who reside in our Emergency Shelter.  This may include organizing play activities, listening / reading to, arts & crafts, and assisting our staff in providing fun and enriching experiences for our young residents

When you become a volunteer with Youth Haven, we want it to be a rewarding experience for you, the children, and our staff.  With that in mind, we have developed a process to help us meet that goal.  Prior to the start of your volunteer experience, interested individuals will be invited to visit Youth Haven for an informational meeting and take a tour of our campus.  This will help you better decide what opportunities may be of greatest interest to you.  You will then be asked to submit a volunteer application and successfully complete a local law enforcement background check and a drug screen. Depending upon the area in which you choose to volunteer, a brief volunteer orientation / training session will also be provided.
